Yet Another 3D printer from Scrap

Frame:
removed the optical pickup and laser from the sled I entend to use for the
Y axis. Gonna save this, one can NEVER have too many lasers. The point was to
make the sled as light and flat as possible. But hey, free laser bonus.
I went with a 3 1/2" floppy drive for the Z axis. I cut away much uneeded
metal from the case to make it lighter. The Y axis has to move the whole Z axis
and extruder hot end.
Upside: less weight
Downside: short throw
I cut a piece (two actually) of wood to create a flat table on the Y axis then I glued them into place.
I measured up the extruder hot end and cut some wood to make a cradle. Hot end and cumbustable wood? What could go wrong?
Glued the Z axis right onto the flat table I had created for the Y axis.
Mount Y - Z assembly on frame cross beam.
Note magnet wire and Hot end in picture.
Mounting the Hot End on the credle I built for it. I wrapped 20ga wire around the tabs on the Cradle and over the top of the Hot End a few times to hold it securely in place.
Y-Z axis and Hot End mounted and ready to install on the rest of the frame. WooHoo!
